THE PARIS ‘LUNCH LADDER’
My current Top 10 tables for the best fixed-price lunches in Paris

best fixed-price lunches in Paris

Memorable meals from the Lunch Ladder

Since it’s not really my intention to do restaurant reviews, but I’m often asked for suggestions and recommendations on good addresses and places to eat in Paris, I have decided to add this page.

What I love most is discovering restaurants in Paris that offer excellent, refined, inventive and quality food at competitive prices. If you are visiting Paris, the trick is to do LUNCHES. Most places offer a ‘formule’ or set menu of excellent value where you can enjoy 2 -3 courses for around half the price of what it costs at dinner. You don’t need to spend a fortune in this city to eat amazing food- you just need to know where to go!

Here’s now it works:
This list always displays my Top 10 favourite addresses. Each time I find somewhere better than a place on the current list, one of them gets bumped off the ladder in order to keep it current. Tough choice, I know.

Please note these restaurants are in no particular order- it’s impossible for me to rank them, they are all great for different reasons and in their own ways.

Of course I have a long list of other addresses, ranging from casual to high end gastronomic, wine bars and coffee spots that I would be happy to share with you if you are looking for something specific, so feel free to drop me a comment and I will do my best to get back to you. Also check out Paris by Mouth and Le Fooding for comprehensive guides.

Happy lunching!

    Thank you Rachel,
This is a great service and no doubt lots of fun for you! I’m taking French conversation in preparation for a trip to Paris when I can, responsibilities permitting. My aim is to live in Paris for perhaps a month at a family house I have read about and take the city and Parisians in at a comfortable pace.
I’ll be studying your blog with interest.

Wonder if you have a London Friend who can do the same with our trendy/fun not too expensive lunch time restaurants too?

Am dying to occasionally meet a friend in a restaurant without making a fuss about leaving things off the plate!

thanks. If I still lived in the centre, I could do this, but not any more.
